We hope the Hertswood community enjoyed a relaxing Easter break and look forward to the exciting Summer Term ahead. The Spring Term was full of news, events and successes. Below is a reminder of some of the articles we were delighted to share.

Highlights from the Spring Term have included...

Morgan, from the Sixth Form class of 2023, visited to update us on his experiences at Emory University, in Georgia, USA.

We enjoyed our first Raising Achievement Day, with students and parents from Years 7, 10 and 11 visiting the Academy. We look forward to our Year 8 and 9 Raising Achievement day on Wednesday 15th May.

Students and staff celebrated World Book Day with some incredible costumes and other activities, while we welcomed the fantastic Quantum Theatre touring company for a production of Macbeth, and our Sixth Form Literacy students took a trip to 'The Kite Runner' on stage.

We showcased the artwork of five talented students in our Week of Art:

We congratulated our Year 8 Football Team on their win in the District 7-A-Side tournament, and Audley and Ollie (Year 8) on their selection to compete for QPR in Barcelona. The Year 7 team also won their first ever tournament in an undefeated run of games.

Our Chemistry Club began their work on the 'Global Experiments' challenge, from the Royal Society of Chemistry, exploring the uses of sustainable materials in batteries.

Our Biology Club marked Valentine's Day with some dissection of hearts, while our Sixth Form Biology students took part in this year's British Biology Olympiad.

Years 9 and 10 enjoyed a visit from the British Army, including learning about army career opportunities, and taking part in team-building activities.

Finally, we recognised many students' hard work in our end-of-term assemblies, including our Students of the Term.
