Community Links

Hertswood Academy is committed to the development of the Elstree and Borehamwood community. We have strong links with local primary and secondary schools, support for local community projects and provide top class facilities which are used extensively throughout the year by the local and wider community.

Community Facilities

Our sports facilities include our fantastic 3rd Generation all weather hockey and football pitches.

Our new world-class buildings opened in Autumn 2019. These include a brand new sports centre with an activity studio, squash courts and sports hall. Our new theatre will offer a range of professional visiting drama, music and comedy, complimented by work produced by the community, for the community.

Primary and Secondary School Partnerships

Partnering with local primary schools, the Academy is at the forefront of the drive to improve standards of literacy and numeracy in the local area. Our annual and very successful Community Literacy Project involves 12 local primary schools. As a result, the smooth transition between primary schools and the Academy is a key feature which local parents consider as their child moves from Year 6 to secondary school.

We have a large number of students in our Sixth Form and over 100 university entrants each year including many Russell Group choices.

Community Connections

Our wide-ranging community connections include Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice, Elstree TV and Screen Heritage Group, BECC (Borehamwood and Elstree Children's Centre), Borehamwood Library, Herts Fire & Rescue, The Rotary Club, British Red Cross, Arsenal FC, Well End Scout Activity Centre, Shenley Apple Society, Herts Inclusive Theatre…and many more!
