Year 7 Tournament Win

Congratulations to the Year 7 football team, who recently took part in their first tournament, and won after an undefeated run of games!

In February the students visited the District Cup 7-A-Side Football Tournament, with coaches Mr Vyras and Mr Hussey. They played eight games in total, coming top in the league stage, before defeating Stanborough School in the semi-finals, to meet Ridgeway Academy in the finals. The boys said the final felt long and tense, but after an excellent save by keeper Freddie, and a goal from Archie, it finished with a 1-0 victory.

'It is a huge credit to the boys that at their first tournament as a team, they were not only undefeated in all the eight games, but they didn't even concede a goal. Well done!' -Mr Vyras

After their success, the team met with Headteacher, Mr Gillett, to be awarded with House Points and Amazon gift vouchers for their determination and excellent teamwork.
