Yesterday, the Academy was delighted to welcome parents and carers to our first Community Raising Achievement Day! Visitors had the opportunity to meet form tutors, Year 11 students and parents discussed next steps after GCSEs, and our SEND Team were also on hand to support.

As well as tea, coffee and the famous Hertswood chocolate brownies, parents were able to browse subject displays, meet Hertswood staff, speak with representatives from our local partners including Services for Young People and the Hertsmere Community Partnership. But the biggest attraction was school dogs Riley and Ada, Ted the tortoise, and some of the school guinea pigs including Crumble and Gelato.

Thank you to all those parents who attended and gave us feedback. An outstanding 94% of respondents rated the welcome they received as 5 out of 5, and parent comments included:

  • An excellent update on the pupils' performance
  • We were so pleased to have this opportunity!
  • I thought the information in the atrium was inspiring
  • It was very useful to see what is available for the students moving on
  • Amazing!

We look forward to opening our doors again on Wednesday 15th May for our Year 8 & 9 Raising Achievement Day.
