Batteries in Chemistry

Students in Years 7-9's Chemistry Club have taken up the 'Global Experiments' challenge from the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), previously tackled by Year 10.

The eager group started the series of practical experiments with a session exploring batteries made from sustainable materials. Over the coming weeks they will share their results with students from schools across the globe to explore what materials would make the best future battery technologies.

The younger students were very excited to use some of the equipment they wouldn't usually use until further in their Chemistry courses. They started strong with a lot of focus, working around the practical and technical challenges of the first experiment.
