🏆 #Hertswood celebrated student success in our Year Group assemblies! Huge congratulations to 🟢Darwin for winning the 2025-26 House Cup, and well done to 🔴Somerville for an overall win at Sports Day. We are very proud of all our Star, Values and Termly award winners!
🎓 We said a fond farewell to our Year 13s this term. After a nostalgic Leavers' Assembly and a surprise staff and Year 12 #Hertswood Guard of Honour, they celebrated in style at their Prom at Arkley 9. We are proud of their successes and can't wait to celebrate on Results Day!
🍕🎈 Our Inclusion team hosted a brilliant Reward Party for Year 7 students to celebrate their incredible resilience during their first year at #Hertswood. Students and staff enjoyed pizza, treats, and board games in a wonderfully relaxed and chatty afternoon.
🤝 #Hertswood was thrilled to host Bedouin Headteachers from the DARCA network earlier this month. They toured the Academy, met our wonderful students, and described our teachers as 'champions.' So proud to see Hertswood's positive impact make an international impression!
🎸🎤🎨 Our Summer Arts Event was a huge success, showcasing dance, music, photography and art. The night also saw a fond farewell to our wonderful guitar teacher, Paul, who has been inspiring, teaching and performing at #Hertswood since 2006. Thank you to everyone involved!
☀️ Brilliant Sports Day this week! #Hertswood students beat the heat with a morning of fantastic athletics, House pride, and medals galore. Huge thanks to our amazing staff for their hard work. Results will be announced in celebration assemblies next week! 🏆🏆
⛷️👏 Massive congratulations to #Hertwood Exec Headteacher, Peter Gillett, and his team for breaking the SkiErg world record! They completed a grueling 36-hour non-stop challenge, raising over £8,700 for Hattie's House, part of 'The Good Life Orphanage' based in Kenya. 🙏
Hertswood Academy will be closed to all students and staff on Friday 26th, as a result of a fault with the school’s water system, related to the high temperatures.
We fully expect the school to reopen as normal on Monday 29th. We will update you should this situation change.
☀️ Our dog-loving students helped school pup Chilli experience his first paddling pool in the #Hertswood quad! Though cautious at first, with some encouragement and his favourite ball, he braved the water to cool off from the heat before checking in on the school guinea pigs. 🐾

⚽ House pride was on the line in the #Hertswood Champions League football competition, organised by our Sixth Form Senior Team! Congrats to our winners: Darwin (Y7), Summerville (Y8), and Nuffield (Y9 & Y10). Brilliant sportsmanship and teamwork from all involved! 🏆
