Building Big Successes

Before the summer holidays, Executive Headteacher Peter Gillett visited our Year 7 students for a memorable assembly in our theatre. His message focused on how making small, daily improvements over time can lead to truly stunning results. With examples from Studio Ghibli to world record breaking sandcastles, Mr Gillett highlighted how tiny changes made early in a student's secondary school journey can make a monumental difference by the time they reach their GCSEs, A-Levels, and future careers.

To bring the theme of building to life, Mr Gillett challenged a Year 7 student to a live sandcastle-building race on stage against Head of Learning for Year 7, Miss Elvins! With surprise bags of sand, buckets, and spades pulled out from behind the scenes, the race brought plenty of energy and excitement to the room. It was a fantastic way to reinforce an important message -- small steps lead to big achievements.
