Executive Headteacher Introduction

An introduction to our CEO and Executive Headteacher, Peter Gillett.

Peter was the founding Headteacher of the Hertswood Academy Trust in 2013 and led our academy through a time of significant change when it moved from a split site school with outdated facilities, to the delivery of our current state-of-the-art £34 million academy buildings, which were opened in 2019.

In 2024, Peter led the enhancement of our new build through securing the delivery of a further £2.5 million expansion including new basketball courts and community facilities.

Most recently in 2025, Peter also led our school community to a ‘Good in all areas’ OFSTED inspection.

As CEO and Executive Headteacher of the Hertswood Academy Trust, Peter works with our Headteacher and Governing Board to lead the continual improvement of our educational provision and the further development of our brilliant school facilities. Peter works closely with stakeholders to ensure our trust is financially secure for the future and that our academy remains at the cutting edge of technology provision. Peter is a founding trustee of the WD6 Beyond Learning Partnership and also leads the future expansion of our trust and strong collaboration with our community partners including local primary and secondary schools.
