Masterclass in Oil

Our Year 12 A-Level Art students have been honing their skills in a brilliant oil painting masterclass, part of their 'Building Foundations' introductory project. The aim was to master the classic medium of oil paints and apply those essential techniques to create some truly stunning, realistic studies of the human eye.

Working diligently from both primary and secondary sources, the project began with an exciting photography element where students expertly photographed each other's eyes. This allowed them to meticulously explore various skin tones, experiment with lighting, and capture subtle emotions. The result is a series of incredibly detailed and impressive oil painting studies.

We are immensely proud of their work and the dedication they have shown. These foundational skills will underpin all their future projects, and we can’t wait to see what our budding artists create next!
