An Incredible Summer Term
BackThe Hertswood community have a lot to be proud of in the 2023-24 academic year. We saw an incredible number of curricular and extracurricular achievements and events through the year. As the Summer Term comes to a close,we are delighted to be able to remind you of some of the activities, trips, and successes we have shared over the last few months.
As always, our thanks go to all of our students, staff and families who have made this year so memorable. We wish everyone a restful and very enjoyable summer break!

Highlights from the Summer Term have included...
-
In the arts, our Year 7 students had their first taste at instrumentation, we held an outstanding Art & Photography Exhibition. Our Photography students explored Cyanotypes and Dark Room processes, and five students were selected to have their stories published.

Year 12 students visited Geneva to learn about cutting-edge research at CERN, while our Chemistry A Level students took on the UK Chemistry Olympiad, and Biology students saw our butterflies grow and take flight.

We saw an outstanding sports trip to Cologne, Germany, with a range of activities (more pictures here, and even more here!). At home we saw the first cricket of the summer, and more matches through the term.

At the Academy, students took part in a mini-course in CPR, and celebrated World Turtle Day with school tortoise, Ted. Our student council gathered to discuss issues of importance to them, and both students and starff took part in a UCL research project.

We showcased the design and construction skills of ten talented Year 10 students in our Week of DT:

Year 9 participated in the University Pathfinder Day at the University of Hertfordshire, with group challenges and a tour of the campus.

Hertswood welcomed Hertsmere MP candidates to our Hustings, moderated by alumni Sophie Pender.

We welcomed our 2024-25 Senior Team and shared parting words from our 2023-24 Head Students, Daniel and Emily.

Our Year 8's annual Race for Life even raised an impressive £1,624 for Cancer Research UK.

We ended the year with an incredible Sports Day, and Awards Assemblies where we announced Cavendish as the House Cup winners for 2024!
