GCSE Success 2026
Back
We are incredibly proud to announce a strong set of Year 11 results, with students achieving excellent grades across a wide range of subjects. We have seen outstanding individual performances, as well as a great overall picture of success. This year’s results reflect the dedication of both our students and staff, who have worked tirelessly to adapt and overcome the challenges posed by recent years.
Our top five students this year are:
- Ben Bergman
- Lucy Lucas
- Kelly Chen
- Nahied Islam
- Chloe Whitmill
These are just a few examples of today’s many success stories based on the hard work and commitment Hertswood students have shown. Every single young person should be proud of what they have accomplished.
60% of our students achieved grades 9-4 in Maths and 65% of our students achieved grades 9-4 in English. We have also seen a significant improvement in the number of students achieving grades 9-5 and 9-4 in both English and Maths.
Headteacher Wanda Gill said ‘It has been an absolute delight to work with this year group, who have worked really hard to secure a great set of results. Congratulations to all of the students and their families on the results today and we look forward to welcoming many of you back to Sixth Form. A massive thank you also goes to the team of staff who worked so closely with these students to get them to this point.’
Executive Headteacher Peter Gillett added, 'We are immensely proud of all our Year 11 students and their exceptional achievements this year. It has been a privilege to guide such a group of talented and hardworking young people. These results are a testament to their dedication, resilience and effort throughout their GCSEs, supported every step of the way by our devoted staff and families.’
Following an excellent set of A-Level and vocational grades from our Sixth Form last week, we look forward to many of these students joining us in Year 12 to continue their learning journey with the Academy.
