Please be aware that Hertswood Academy will be closed to all students and staff on Friday 26th June 2026.

Unfortunately, we have developed an intermittent fault with the school’s main water system related to the high temperatures we are experiencing. In addition, due to the hot temperatures we are experiencing issues with windows expanding so have been unable to close some windows, which is part of our mitigation to keep temperatures comfortable in classrooms.

The health, safety, and well-being of our students and staff are our absolute priorities. Operating a large secondary school without a dependable water supply during high temperatures poses a significant health and safety risk, which is why we have taken the difficult decision to close the site.

What you need to know:

Closure Date: Friday 25th June

Remote Learning: Work will be set for students via Google Classroom to ensure learning can continue from home.

Reopening: We fully expect the school to reopen as normal on Monday. We will update you should this situation change.

We understand that school closures cause disruption to family routines, and we sincerely apologise for the short notice and inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your continued support, understanding, and cooperation as we work to resolve this issue.
