Our Sixth Form students were delighted to welcome UCL medical student Max Yip from OpSurg to discuss the journey toward a career in medicine. Max spoke with Year 12 and 13 students, providing valuable guidance on tackling the UCAT and mastering the university interview process. He also shared practical advice on boosting personal statements through activities that develop essential transferable skills.
Beyond the application process, Max offered a realistic glimpse into life as a medical student, from university lectures to hospital placements. Our aspiring medics found the session incredibly helpful as they begin to prepare for the challenges of the medical profession.
We were also proud to recently welcome back Hertswood alumna Neşe Beyzade, who spoke to our Year 12 Health & Social Care class. Having graduated from King’s College London, Neşe is now a children’s nurse at St Thomas’ Hospital. Her journey from Hertswood to a frontline healthcare role was truly inspiring for those students considering a career in nursing.
