Focus on Oracy

In lessons at Hertswood, our staff and students are focusing on oracy, the art of speaking and listening, across many different subjects. By helping our students master the power of speech, we empower them to:

• Express their ideas with confidence.
• Connect with people from all walks of life.
• Present effectively to different audiences.
• Deepen their learning through discussion.

Conversations don’t all have to be formal to be meaningful. If parents would like to extend this focus outside the Academy, here are some ideas for fun and easy verbal games you can play with your child at home, to get them talking and improve their oracy skills, starting with a simple game of "Would you rather...?"
