Young Historians

Year 7 and 8 students recently enjoyed a fantastic afternoon at Haberdashers' Boys' School, attending a captivating talk with author and historian Paul Dowswell! After exploring historical fiction in their literacy lessons, our students were perfectly primed to learn about the research behind Mr. Dowswell's latest book, Eleven Eleven, which focuses on the morning of the last day of World War I.

The group were truly exemplary. They asked mature, sophisticated, and intelligent questions about his research and his journey as an author. Following the talk, they had a wonderful time exploring the impressive library and its resources. We were delighted that staff at Haberdashers', as well as Mr Dowswell himself, complimented our students on their impeccable behaviour and insightful questions!
