Hands-On Chemistry

Practical assessments are a vital part of the A-Level Chemistry curriculum, ensuring our students gain essential hands-on experience and apply their theoretical knowledge in the laboratory.

Last week, our new cohort of Year 12 Chemists took on their first practical assessment focused on titrations. This common technique involves finding the concentration of a solution, by slowly adding a solution of known concentration to it, until the reaction reaches a clear endpoint, such as a colour change.

The students worked diligently in pairs, showing excellent focus, teamwork, and attention to detail as they carefully followed the risk assessments they had prepared beforehand. Taking A-Level Chemistry is demanding, and we are incredibly proud of the progress and commitment shown by these ambitious young scientists!
