Statement regarding 16th October
BackFollowing events over the weekend which were ongoing until late last night, the Academy closed today, Monday 16th October, to make sure all mitigation was in place to ensure the safety of the Hertswood Community. The Academy will be open as usual tomorrow, Tuesday 17th October 2023. We thank you for your continued support.
Hertsmere police have issued the following statement:
“Police were contacted shortly after 9.00pm on Friday 13 October to report that an alleged bomb threat had been made to Hertswood Academy in Borehamwood.
Officers attended the scene, alongside an explosive detection dog, and several comprehensive searches of the site took place over the weekend, but no devices were found.
The incident is now being treated as a hoax and a police investigation to determine the origin of the malicious communications is underway.
As a precautionary measure and to offer reassurance, officers have been in attendance at the school today (Monday 16 October).
Local Safer Neighbourhood Team officers will be conducting additional reassurance patrols in the area over the coming days.”
