"Last week, Hertswood's Sixth Form chemists visited the University of Hertfordshire to explore future courses in pharmacology. The visit involved a lecture on areas of study within the courses, and a tour of the university's chemistry laboratories, including the impressive NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance) facility for a demonstration of the spectroscopy technique.

"After this, through the wonders of virtual reality headsets, we were able to inspect, create and learn more about complex molecules in 3D. It was an immersive experience, with fantastic tools to help further our understanding, and was a wonderful highlight to the day.

"A big thank you to the chemistry faculty at the University, including Dr Griffiths and Dr Scott, and everyone else who helped us."
