On 27th March, nine GCSE Music students attended a GCSE-focused lecture concert at the Stevenage Music Centre. The lecture-concert was led by Patrick Bailey, a conductor, composer, arranger and present who has worked with the Philharmonia Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and London Sinfonietta.

The lecture-concert included some of the GCSE Music set works but also presented ideas and methods for composing with audience participation! Hertswood students were exemplary in representing the Academy at what was, for most of them, their first live classical concert.

After the event, students commented how much they enjoyed seeing how film composers implement music into their works, and learning how to develop musical ideas.
