Cultural Festival

On Friday 11th November, Year 11 students transformed D Block into an international extravaganza to celebrate cultural diversity in our community. The students chose this event as part of their controlled assessment, and it aimed to provide people with opportunities to learn about cultures which are different from their own and to help to reduce discrimination.

Many students gave up their time at weekends and after school to ensure that their displays were informative and that they had explored every aspect of their chosen culture. The event was a huge success and the staff and students who visited were very impressed with the level of detail and effort that each group had gone to. There was such an array of interesting food to taste, music to listen to, languages to learn and information to absorb.

The Year 11s showed that cultural diversity is something that should always be celebrated, and that through events like this we can all help to improve cohesion within our communities. Well done to all of the students who took part, and thank you to the staff who helped to organise the event.
