2020-2021 Arrangements

Dear Parent / Carer,

We hope you and your family are well. As reported in our newsletter (03/07/20), we were delighted to hear that secondary schools will be open full time in September, in line with new government guidance. This letter will provide the main details and changes that we will be putting in place to ensure that the government guidance is followed and our community is safe in the new academic year. We are pleased to confirm that our broad and balanced curriculum will be preserved in all year groups and not compromised by the new guidance. Students will study the same wide range of subjects from Year 7 up to the Sixth Form. To ensure students are familiarised with the new arrangements, the start date for our year groups is as follows:

Year 7  Thursday 3rd September
Years 10 and 11 Friday 4th September
Years 8, 9, 12 and 13 Monday 7th September

General Points

  • Our new building with modern surfaces and facilities already enhances safety.
  • Further works on our school grounds and additional outdoor seating will provide more zoned playground space to the rear of the Academy.
  • Our existing biometric finger scanner system (used when making payments for lunch) is being replaced with card payment to reduce touch.

Enhanced cleaning, hygiene and organisational arrangements from September

  • Regular deep cleaning and regular zoned cleaning.
  • Hand sanitisation is available in every classroom, on entry and during lunch.
  • Different entrances and exits for year groups.
  • Enhanced dining provision including further outdoor seating facilities.
  • Adjusted timetable for 2020-21 with staggered exit and year group zoned dining.

New timetable for 2020-21

Note that students should arrive no later than 8:30am. Staff will be on duty to direct students to the correct entry point. Following government guidance, students will remain in their year group bubbles for lunch break. Period 4 and 5 are slightly shorter as tutor time has been increased. There is also a staggered exit with students leaving at different times. Students are welcome to remain after school in their zoned area to complete extra work. Catch up programmes will also be starting soon in the Autumn Term.
