A World-Class Academy

A World-Class Academy

We are delighted to announce that our ambitious plans to provide a new world-class academy building have been unanimously approved by the Local Authority Planning Committee. This brings us a major step closer to delivering the outstanding educational facilities we know every parent would want for their child. Further consultations and a detailed timeline for the building plans (currently timed for completion in 2018) will be announced in due course. We would like to thank everyone who has supported the academy during the application process so far including our students, staff, parents, governors and our sponsor, the Meller Educational Trust. As our exciting plans progress, we will continue to ensure that our students excel and exceed national standards whilst looking forward to a very bright future indeed.

These designs show a landmark building with state-of-the-art educational facilities and enhanced community provision. The new academy is positioned right at the front of our lower site with a fantastic library and extensive community facilities including a brand new Ark Theatre and Sports Centre. Cutting-edge ICT in every classroom, expansive open learning spaces and a superb new restaurant are some key features of the new academy which is built around a quadrangle containing a sensory garden. The superb bright, double-height library and specialist sixth form provision throughout, sets the scene for an amazingly rich learning environment inside. Outside, acres of green space are freed to the rear of this incredible new building, unlocking the potential to make full use of our extensive sports facilities, alongside new squash courts, a gym, a dance studio and a brilliant new sports hall. Our Sports Centre and Ark Theatre will be in a prominent position, clearly visible from the roadside with convenient and plentiful parking. Most importantly, our students and their teachers would receive the outstanding educational facilities that every parent would want them to have.
